Today is Father's Day here in the United States. In memory of my Papa and in honor of my Dad, I submit this poem that I first wrote in 1992.
For as many as are led by the SPIRIT of GOD, they are the sons of GOD. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the SPIRIT of adoption, whereby we cry, ‘Abba, Father’~~Romans 8:14-5 (KJV)
Father
Even as a child, I always knew YOU were there
I never had any trouble believing in YOU but sometimes….
I always felt YOU were far away and much too busy to be concerned about me.
When I accepted YOUR friendship through JESUS—I always called YOU LORD.
I thought that I only deserved crumbs of YOUR blessings because of my past sins.
Through the HOLY SPRIRIT and praying in JESUS’ Name, I realize I had the power to become more that a conqueror.
I began to capture glimpses of THY wonderful grace mixed with mercy and accept that I have all things in JESUS if I but ask of THEE.
In the past, Scriptures that only soothed me in spurts has now become living promises fulfilled daily.
And now instead of calling upon THEE as LORD, I call upon THEE as Father.
